CSK v RCB will open the IPL 12 on March 23

The Indian Premier League 2019 season schedule was in the limbo due the tournament clashing with the general elections in India. The 2019 general elections are scheduled to happen April-May and this made finalizing the dates of IPL a difficult task for BCCI.

On top of that, according to the new constitution of BCCI, there must be a gap of atleast 15 days between IPL and any international tournament. With the ICC World Cup 2019 scheduled to begin on May 30, the IPL needed to end atelast 15-17 days before. All this has left BCCI with no choice but to start the IPL 2019 earlier than normal and announced the starting date of March 23, 2019.

However, as the dates of general elections have not been announced yet, only two weeks of scheduled was declared and which sees Chennai Super Kings, the defending champions facing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening match of the tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
